Holosun Micro Red Dot HE509-RD Solar Powered w/507C ACSS Vulcan is a compact pistol red dot sight featuring the Solar Failsafe power system, Shake Awake battery-saving technology, and an innovative ACSS Vulcan reticle.

Its compact size, enclosed armored design, and lightweight body make the Holosun Micro Red Dot HE509-RD Solar Powered an excellent choice for both sport and tactical shooting.

Unlike the previous version, this model features a new horizontal button layout, which most users find more comfortable and intuitive. The Holosun Micro Red Dot HE509-RD Solar Powered also includes a Lock Mode that disables buttons to prevent accidental setting changes.

Holosun Micro Red Dot HE509-RD Solar Powered for pistols — reliable Holosun optic with ACSS Vulcan reticle

The housing is made from lightweight and durable aluminum using precision machining. The optic features enlarged rubberized buttons and a side battery tray, allowing battery replacement in the field without removing the sight. It mounts using a steel plate compatible with the 507C standard. The enclosed design ensures greater resistance to impact and dirt.

The Holosun Micro Red Dot HE509-RD uses multi-layer anti-reflective lens coatings for high light transmission and a clear, parallax-free image.

How does the ACSS Vulcan reticle differ from a standard red dot?

The Holosun HE509-RD features the innovative ACSS Vulcan aiming system.

The ACSS Vulcan revolutionizes red dot aiming. Instead of a standard dot, it uses a chevron (an inverted V shape) that enables fast target acquisition and precise shots at longer distances. The chevron is supported by a large circle (optional), which helps center the reticle quickly. If the aiming point is lost, the visible edge of the circle guides instinctive correction and re-alignment. The ACSS Vulcan reticle provides a significant advantage over iron sights in rapid, long-range shooting.

Holosun solar-powered optics — reliable sights for dynamic shooting

The collimator is powered by a CR1632 battery, providing up to 20,000 hours of operation at brightness level 6. Additionally, the Solar Failsafe panel supports battery operation under bright light, automatically adjusts reticle brightness, and can power the optic in case of battery failure. The user can select automatic or manual brightness control with 10 daylight and 2 night-vision settings.

The impressive 20,000-hour runtime is made possible by the Shake Awake system, which automatically turns off the diode after 10 minutes of inactivity, putting the optic into sleep mode. It reactivates instantly with movement. The user can set the sleep timer manually. The sight also remembers the last used settings (including brightness) and features a low battery indicator (reticle flicker).

Note: The Holosun HE509-RD with ACSS reticle has a different base than the 509T model (non-ACSS versions) and is not compatible with Holosun 509T mounting plates. The included 509C plate is also incompatible with RMR-style interfaces such as ZEV or Shadow Systems.
