SLx prism scopes combine the fast target acquisition of a red dot, the precision of a riflescope, and a compact form factor, which is why they are popular not only among shooters with astigmatism but also among those seeking a versatile optic for short- and mid-range shooting.
The American brand Primary Arms, known for its high-quality optics, red dots, prism scopes, and shooting accessories, has rapidly gained traction in the U.S. market by offering products with an excellent price-to-performance ratio. Most products come with a lifetime warranty, clearly underlining confidence in the offered goods. Primary Arms is also renowned for its proprietary ACSS reticle system, which helps novice shooters quickly improve their marksmanship.
Features of the Primary Arms SLx 3x Micro Prism ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308:
Primary Arms SLx 3X MicroPrism is a compact 3× prism scope from the acclaimed SLx line, which has earned a reputation for reliability, innovation and excellent value for money. In field tests, Primary Arms optics were tested on a SCAR 17 (.308 Win) with over 7,000 rounds fired without harm to the optics. The SLx 3x features an enhanced ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 reticle in metric units, etched on premium low-dispersion glass, and a reinforced mounting base ensuring rigidity and reliable attachment to the firearm.
The SLx 3x is a 3× prism scope that enables easy target identification at medium range and quick both-eyes-open shooting at close ranges. Many shooters suffer from astigmatism — a vision condition where the red dot of a reflex sight can appear smeared or distorted. This complicates aiming, especially at small, distant targets. Replacing a reflex sight with a prism scope solves this issue by providing a clearer, parallax-free image and improved precision at mid-range distances.
The sight features a sealed aluminum housing rated IP67, providing resistance to fogging, rain and shocks. It offers a large exit pupil and a generous eyebox (69 mm), allowing rapid cheek weld and sight acquisition without perfect optical alignment. This makes the Primary Arms SLx 3X well suited to dynamic engagements against moving targets where time for perfect positioning is limited.
The proprietary ACSS Raptor 5.56/.308 reticle is glass-etched and remains visible regardless of time of day, even without illumination. Beneath the aiming mark is a metric-ranging scale for distance estimation and holdover adjustments. The aiming mark features red illumination (horseshoe and chevron) with 13 daylight levels and 3 night-vision settings. The AutoLive motion sensor significantly extends battery life — up to 29,000 hours at medium brightness. After extended inactivity AutoLive automatically turns off the illumination and instantly restores it when the firearm is moved.
ACSS Raptor is Primary Arms' proprietary reticle calibrated for 5.56/.308 ballistics. The reticle features a fine central chevron (inverted V) surrounded by a thicker horseshoe; a ranging scale below the chevron provides distance estimation and ballistic holdover data. The result is an intuitive reticle that excels at fast close-range shooting as well as precise mid-range engagements. Markings are given in meters for convenient field use.
The Primary Arms SLx 3X MicroPrism ships with a robust aluminum mount with steel hardware to ensure stable, repeatable zero. Optional risers are available to set the sight at the desired height in up to 8 configurations.
