The Optima by Hatsan Barrage 5.5 mm features a futuristic polymer stock. The ergonomic stock has a separate pistol grip, a symmetrical thumb‑hole buttstock, and two sockets for carrying spare magazines. The pistol grip and front part of the stock have anti‑slip texturing that helps maintain full control over the rifle. The Optima by Hatsan Barrage rifle has two Picatinny rails for mounting optics and a bipod, as well as sling mounts for attaching a rifle sling. The buttstock can be adapted to the shooter’s build and preferences thanks to the adjustable butt pad and cheek piece. This functionality allows the shooter to adjust the stock length and cheek position depending on the mounting height of the device.

The rifle features a precisely rifled barrel with a length of 500 mm finished with a choke (narrowing), which in the case of a long barrel ensures better pellet guidance and sealing inside the barrel bore. The floating barrel is protected from damage by an anodized aluminum sleeve. This process protects aluminum from oxidation and hardens its surface. The Optima by Hatsan Barrage is powered by a fixed 500 cc compressed air cylinder. A fully filled air reservoir allows for approximately 120 shots. Thanks to the built‑in pressure gauge, the user can easily monitor pressure and the remaining air supply.

The Optima by Hatsan Barrage PCP air rifle feeds pellets using self‑indexing 10‑round magazines, where reloading occurs automatically after each shot. This solution is extremely convenient for the shooter and allows them to focus only on trigger control and the aiming process. The rifle’s high accuracy is partly due to the adjustable two‑stage Quattro Trigger system. The user can independently define the length of the first stage and the trigger pull weight, allowing tight and satisfying shot grouping on the target after only a short shooting practice. The rifle is equipped with two safety systems:

• Anti‑Knock System — a mechanism preventing an accidental shot during shock or when the rifle is dropped.
