Air rifle Optima by Hatsan Striker Edge 4.5 mm

Optima by Hatsan Striker Edge 4,5 mm is a modern break-barrel air rifle featuring a thumb-hole stock, automatic safety, and fiber-optic sighting devices.

Air rifles produced by the Turkish firearms manufacturer Hatsan have been popular among Polish sport shooters for years thanks to the capabilities they offer within their price range. The Optima by Hatsan brand provides the same excellent price-to-quality ratio, resulting directly from the production solutions applied during manufacturing. The company’s extensive capabilities allow every component to be produced in a single factory, ensuring that each rifle is built from scratch under the careful supervision of Hatsan specialists.

Modern polymer stock

The stock of the Optima by Hatsan Striker Edge is made of durable polymer with a matte finish that is resistant to mechanical damage, weather conditions, and moisture. Maintenance and cleaning of the synthetic stock are limited to general cleaning and occasional use of silicone oil.

The symmetrical thumb-hole stock features a textured pistol grip with thumb space, enhancing comfort and control over the rifle.  Recoil generated after the shot is effectively absorbed thanks to the ventilated rubber butt pad, which also provides a stable support point. Fine checkering on the pistol grip and the front part of the stock improves hand grip and enhances the rifle’s aesthetics.

Convenient loading

The spring is cocked by classic “barrel breaking”, the method most commonly used in spring-powered air rifles due to its simplicity and ease of operation. The Optima by Hatsan Striker Edge rifle fires 4.5 mm diabolo pellets, loaded directly into the barrel.  The loading process is facilitated by a polymer protective collar, which also houses the front sight. The rifle features the Anti Bear-Trap Safety system, preventing accidental spring release during cocking.

Accuracy and long range

Accuracy and shot consistency are ensured by a 450 mm rifled barrel, allowing tight groupings after only brief practice. The fired pellet reaches an initial velocity of approx. 250 m/s (~ 10 J), enabling accurate shooting at longer distances.

Safety first

Safety is paramount in shooting sports, which is why cocking the spring (“breaking the barrel”) results in the automatic engagement of the safety, preventing an uncontrolled shot. Before firing, the safety must be disengaged each time — it is conveniently located in front of the trigger. This allows for easy disengagement without disrupting the aiming process.

Modern sighting devices

The rifle is equipped with high-quality fiber-optic sighting devices, namely a hooded front sight and a vertically and horizontally adjustable rear sight. The contrasting (green-red) fiber-optic rods significantly speed up front and rear sight alignment and, thanks to high light absorption, allow shooting even in low-light conditions. If you wish to try shooting at longer distances, a selected optical device can be mounted on the 11 mm rail.
