Optima by Hatsan 1000X Striker 4.5 mm is a proven air rifle with a wooden stock, a classic break-barrel system, and fiber-optic sighting devices. An excellent choice for those looking for their first air rifle!
Air rifles produced by the Turkish firearms manufacturer Hatsan have been popular among Polish sport shooters for years thanks to the capabilities they offer within their price segment. The Optima by Hatsan brand provides the same excellent price-to-quality ratio that directly results from the solutions used in the production process. The manufacturer’s extensive capabilities allow every part to be produced in a single factory, ensuring that the rifles are built from scratch under the close supervision of Hatsan specialists.
The beech wood stock features a simple English style and a matte finish. Fine checkering on the pistol grip and the middle section of the stock improves grip and enhances the rifle’s aesthetics. The stock features a symmetrical Monte Carlo cheek piece, allowing comfortable shooting for both right- and left-handed users. Due to its relatively low weight (2900 g), the rifle can also be comfortably used by women and younger shooters. Recoil energy is effectively reduced by a ventilated rubber butt pad, which also provides a stable support point.
The spring is cocked by the classic “breaking the barrel” method, which is the most commonly used system in spring air rifles due to its simplicity and ease of operation. The rifle’s spring is made of hardened steel with high fatigue resistance, ensuring durability and consistent performance even after several thousand shots. The spring also features a safety mechanism that prevents uncontrolled release during cocking. The Optima by Hatsan 1000X Striker fires 4.5 mm diabolo pellets loaded directly into the barrel.
Accuracy and shot consistency are ensured by a 420 mm rifled barrel, which allows users to achieve repeatable shot grouping after only a short period of practice. The fired pellet reaches a high muzzle velocity of up to 250 m/s (~16 J), allowing accurate shooting even at longer distances. A polymer mock suppressor is mounted at the end of the barrel, serving as the base for the front sight and making it easier to break the barrel.
Safety is the most important aspect of shooting, which is why after cocking the spring (“breaking the barrel”) the rifle automatically engages the safety, preventing an uncontrolled shot. Before firing, the safety must always be disengaged. It is conveniently located at the rear of the compression chamber, allowing easy operation even without interrupting the aiming process.
The rifle is equipped with fiber-optic sighting devices, including a tunnel front sight and a rear sight adjustable for windage and elevation. Fiber-optic inserts in contrasting green-red colors significantly speed up front- and rear-sight alignment and, thanks to their high light absorption, also enable shooting in low or limited lighting conditions, such as at dusk. If you want to try shooting at longer distances, you can also mount a compatible optical device on the 11 mm rail (with a stop).
