Optima by Hatsan AirTact ED 4,5 mm is a lightweight spring-piston air rifle with an ergonomic Thumb-hole stock and an integrated sound moderator. The Vortex version is additionally equipped with a gas spring that noticeably reduces recoil and improves accuracy.
Air rifles produced by the Turkish firearms manufacturer Hatsan have been popular among Polish shooters for years due to the capabilities they offer within their price segment. The Optima by Hatsan brand offers the same excellent price-to-quality ratio, which directly results from the solutions used in the manufacturing process. The manufacturer’s extensive production capabilities allow every component to be made in a single factory, ensuring that the air gun is created from scratch under the careful supervision of Hatsan specialists.
The rifle features a precision rifled barrel by Hatsan Arms, 370 mm long, finished with an integrated sound moderator that significantly reduces the firing noise without decreasing energy or balance. The spring is cocked by the classic “break-barrel” method, widely regarded as the most convenient and practical solution. The Anti Bear-Trap Safety system protects against uncontrolled spring release during cocking, eliminating the risk of hand or facial injury.
The rifle is equipped with a Vortex gas spring, responsible for smooth operation, reduced recoil, and improved accuracy. The Vortex Gas Piston system is based on a pneumatic cylinder in which a gas mixture is used instead of a steel spring. When the trigger is pulled, compressed gas drives the piston, which compresses the air and propels the pellet. Vortex ensures a stable muzzle velocity and a significantly longer service life of the pneumatic unit compared to a standard spring-piston system.
The most noticeable effect for the shooter is reduced recoil and rifle weight, lower vibration and firing noise, and less effort required to cock the spring. Thanks to these features, a rifle equipped with the Vortex spring stands out for its smooth and comfortable operation, above-average precision, and high working culture.

The polymer Thumb-hole stock features a comfortable pistol grip and thumbhole opening for enhanced comfort and control. The symmetrical Monte Carlo stock with a raised cheek piece allows comfortable shooting for both right- and left-handed users.
The fore-end and grip feature aesthetic checkering that improves grip and the rifle’s design. The ventilated rubber butt pad effectively absorbs recoil energy and provides a stable support point. TruGlo fiber optic sights facilitate and speed up aiming, especially in bright sunlight. The 11 mm rail allows installation of a selected optical device.
One of the rifle’s greatest advantages is its light weight of 2.75 kg, making it suitable even for younger shooting enthusiasts. A manual and automatic safety protects against accidental discharge.
A pellet fired from the rifle reaches a velocity of up to 250 m/s.
