Colt SAA .45 nickel 4.5 mm BB CO2 is a beautifully made air revolver, being a faithful replica of the legendary Colt SAA, the revolver that changed the face of the Wild West.
The revolver has a heavy construction made almost entirely (except for the grip panels) from heavy alloy and steel. This design ensures reliable use and results in a noticeable revolver weight of over 860 g.
The air revolver features a 5.5‑inch barrel, allowing accurate shooting even at longer distances after a short training session.
Colt SAA .45 nickel 4.5 mm BB CO2 uses mechanical sighting devices with fixed settings.
The classic character of the revolver is perfectly highlighted by the stylish nickel finish and polymer grip panels that closely resemble ivory. As in a real firearm, the revolver grip has an optimal angle, which improves comfort and provides a natural hold of the air revolver.
All mechanisms such as the trigger, cylinder, hammer, and loading port cover are perfectly fitted and operate with high precision.
The revolver has a very realistic loading system, closely imitating the mechanism of the real Colt SA. It consists of a rotating cylinder and brass cartridge replicas in which pellets are placed. The cylinder loading port is secured with a hinged cover just like in the original.
After placing BB's pellets in the cartridges, simply load them into the cylinder, and once the loading port is closed the air revolver is ready to fire. The cartridges are reusable, but for greater convenience it is worth purchasing an additional set, which significantly speeds up loading and increases shooting enjoyment.
BB's pellets are intended for recreational shooting at reactive targets, cans, bottles, etc. Unlike lead pellets, BB's do not deform even under pressure, which makes them safe to load into the cartridges.
The revolver is powered by compressed carbon dioxide supplied from a 12 g CO2 capsule. The fired pellet reaches a high muzzle velocity of about 120 m/s, allowing accurate shooting at distances up to 20 m.
Loading and replacing the CO2 capsule is very simple — just slide the polymer grip panel aside, place the capsule in the port, and tighten it using an Allen key.
The mounting key is permanently attached to the grip panel, so it is always with the air revolver, preventing the common problem of forgetting the tool required to replace the capsule.
The revolver uses a classic SA (single action) trigger mechanism, which means that each shot requires manually cocking the hammer, just like in the classic western Colt.
Despite this functionality, the revolver offers a high rate of fire, which depends solely on the shooter’s skill and training. During transport or carrying, the trigger mechanism can be locked using a manual safety located at the lower part of the frame.
In 1872, Colt Patent Firearms Company created the Peacemaker revolver, which the following year was introduced into service with the U.S. Army under the designation Single Action Army. Colt SAA also achieved impressive commercial success.
In addition to military orders, the factory sold tens of thousands of these revolvers to settlers colonizing the Wild West. Production of the revolver ceased only in 1942, when the production lines were redirected exclusively to
