Colt SAA .45-5,5" nickel 4.5 mm Diabolo CO2 is a beautifully crafted air rifle, a faithful replica of the legendary Colt SAA, the revolver that changed the face of the Wild West.
The revolver has a heavy construction made almost entirely (except for the grip panels) from a heavy alloy and steel. This design ensures reliable operation and contributes to the noticeable weight of over 860 g.
The air rifle features a 5.5‑inch rifled barrel, allowing accurate shooting at longer distances after a short practice session and even enabling target shooting.
Colt SAA .45-5,5" nickel 4.5 mm Diabolo CO2 uses fixed mechanical sighting devices.
The classic character of the revolver is perfectly emphasized by the striking nickel finish and polymer grip panels that closely resemble ivory. Just like in the firearm version, the revolver grip has an optimal angle, which improves comfort and provides a natural hold on the air rifle.
All mechanisms such as the trigger, cylinder, hammer, and loading gate are perfectly fitted and operate with high precision.
The revolver features a very realistic loading system that closely replicates the mechanism of the real Colt SA, consisting of a rotating cylinder and brass cartridge replicas in which the pellet is placed. The cylinder loading port is protected by a hinged loading gate just like in the original.
After inserting the diabolo pellet into the cartridges, simply load them into the cylinder, and once the loading gate is closed the air rifle is ready to fire. The cartridges are reusable, but for greater convenience it is worth purchasing an additional set, which significantly speeds up loading and increases shooting enjoyment.
The revolver is powered by compressed carbon dioxide from a 12 g CO2 capsule. The fired pellet reaches a high muzzle velocity of about 120 m/s, allowing accurate shooting at distances of up to 30 m.
Loading and replacing the CO2 capsule is very simple: just slide the polymer grip panel aside, place the capsule in the port and tighten it using the hex key.
The mounting key is permanently attached to the grip panel, so it is always with the air rifle and prevents the simple problem of forgetting the tool required to replace the capsule.
The revolver uses a classic Single Action (SA) trigger mechanism, meaning that each shot requires manual cocking of the hammer, just like in the classic western Colt.
Despite this system, the revolver offers a high rate of fire that depends solely on the shooter’s skill and training. During transport or carrying, the trigger mechanism can be locked using a manual safety located at the bottom of the frame.
In 1872, the Colt Patent Firearms Company created the Peacemaker revolver, which the following year was introduced as the Single Action Army and adopted by the U.S. Army. The Colt SAA also achieved impressive commercial success.
In addition to military orders, the factory sold tens of thousands of these revolvers to settlers colonizing the Wild West. Production stopped only in 1942 when manufacturing lines were redirected exclusively to wartime needs.
In the late 1940s the iconic SAA revolver returned to production and continues to be manufactured in various versions to this day.
